Animals
share with us the privilege of having a soul.

Miami Herald Reporter John Dorschner stated very
simply in his article See Spot Die,
the following:
There are a hundred million dogs and cats
in America. We cuddle them, talk to them, make them
part of the family. Every year we buy them five billion
dollars worth of food, not to mention collars, bowls,
flea spray, vaccinations, and little, pink sweaters.
We love our pets. Except, of course, when we have
to move, or get tired of walking them, or sick of
paying the vet bills. Then we abandon them. By the
millions. We tell ourselves theyll find a new
home, but the truth is, when we drop them off at the
animal shelter, we drop them off to die. Mans
best friend has become mans biggest victim.
Throughout North America, the companion animal population
is still, today, plagued by massive overpopulation.
This is in spite of continuing educational campaigns
promoting early spaying and neutering of all companion
animals.
As a result, the resources and manpower of the many
shelters and humane societies are being severely strained.
In the vast majority of cases, such shelters have reached
the breaking point. Then, of course, the unthinkable
occurs. They become killing centres. Over 45,000 cats
and dogs are euthanized, or killed every
day, 365 days a year. To put it bluntly, between 15-20
million companion animals are killed, each year, in
the United States alone. More than 1/3 of North Americas
52 million dogs, and 56 million cats, are homeless.
In addition, 4 out of 5 companion animals are abandoned
each year. These are very frightening statistics.
The aim of the Missy Foundation is to make a difference
in the lives of such animals in the belief that every
living entity has the right to warm shelter and good
food, but, most importantly, they have the right to
be wanted and loved.
We launch this non-profit endeavour, the Missy Foundation,
so that our Missy Angel may be remembered in the name
of a truly noble cause.
Your help, given in honour and memory of your special
Angel, is so very important. We are the Voice of the
Voiceless. We must help those who cannot help themselves.
This is your chance to really make a difference in perpetuity.
